What Is IG55?

IG55 is a clean, inert gas fire suppression agent composed of a 50% Argon and 50% Nitrogen mixture by volume. As both gases occur naturally in the atmosphere, IG55 has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and zero global warming potential (GWP) — making it one of the most environmentally responsible fire suppression options available.

Unlike chemical agents that extinguish fires through chemical reactions, IG55 works through oxygen reduction: it lowers the oxygen concentration in the protected space from the normal 21% to approximately 14-15% — a level sufficient to extinguish the fire while remaining safe for human occupancy. For Class A surface fires, the system is designed to discharge at least 95% of the agent within 60 seconds.
